Three NE Scorpions Players Selected to Power Showcase
The New England Scorpions were fortunate to have three players represent Rhode Island in the National Power Showcase. Davis Johnson, Chris Piscione, and Miles Fontaine dominated the event held at Chase Field (AZ). Each player took part in a pro scout day, homerun derby, and national game that consisted of players from all over the country.
Davis Johnson turned heads in the homerun derby by hitting seven homeruns and third overall in the 15 year old age group. His longest homerun traveled 434 feet.
Chris Piscione represented the 14 year old age group and blasted 3 homeruns (longest being 384 feet). Piscione pitched two scoreless innings, striking out seven hitters and allowing only one hit. He also added two doubles at the plate and drove in a run.
Miles Fontaine represented the 12 year old age group and shined during the game. He had an RBI single and excelled at shortstop making multiple plays.
