Alumni Spotlight #1

by Cody Ortega

We have picked three former NE Scorpions players to highlight in this week’s “Alumni Spotlight.”  All three are terrific young men and having great starts to their college careers.

1.  Broc French (LHP):  University of Rhode Island (RI)

- French has started his freshman pitching campaign strong posting a 1.50 ERA.  He has appeared on the mound five times this season and has been efficient every outing.  Broc‘s early season highlight was making an appearance against Eastern Carolina University giving up no runs and recording his first college strikeout.

2.  Ben Sears (RHP):  University of Houston (TX)

- Sears is 1-0 for the Cougars this season.  He has had some great performances, but none beat the inning of work against Texas A&M.  Ben struck out two of the four batters faced and left the game giving up no runs or hits.   Sears also picked up his first Win against Texas A&M Corpus Cristi going seven innings while only throwing 60 total pitches.

3.  Josh Leadem (OF):  University of Rochester (NY)

- Rochester started their season strong this past weekend.  A lot had to do with Josh Leadem’s home run in his first ever college at-bat.  His three run RBI home run gave Rochester the lead over #15 ranked Cortland State University.   Rochester won the game 7-6.
