Alumni Spotlight Series

Our “Alumni Spotlight” series has been released for the 2023 college baseball season.

This series highlights standout performances from our former New England Scorpions players at their current colleges and universities.

In the past seven years, we have had 79 New England Scorpions players commit to play college baseball. These players attend over 40 institutions across the country. We are proud of every player and look forward to following their hard work each week.

March 4, 2023
The first former New England Scorpion to be recognized is Conor Kiely.  Kiely is in his senior season at Stonehill College, who has recently joined the division 1 ranks in the Northeast College Conference.  In his first six games Kiely has started every game in the outfield and has a total of 24 total at-bats.  He is currently batting .417 with 10 hits, 1 double, 2 stolen bases, 2 RBI, and has an on-base percentage of .500.  His best game this season came against Kansas State University where he went 3-4 at the plate with a double and RBI.

The second former New England Scorpion to be recognized is David Egan. Egan is in his junior season at Lasell University who competes in the NCAA Div III GNAC Conference.  He is currently batting .417 with 1 double, 1 homerun, 5 RBI, and has an on-base percentage of .462.  His best game this season came against Emmerson College where he went 3-5 at the plate with a home run and 4 RBI.

The third former New England Scorpion to be recognized is Ryan Andrade.  Andrade is a RHP in his sophomore season at the University of Rhode Island who compete in the NCAA Div 1 Atlantic 10 Conference.  He has made 8 appearances this season and has a 1.59 ERA with 11K’s and an opponent batting average of .244.  He also signed a contract to play summer ball for the Newport Gulls out of the NECBL.

The fourth former New England Scorpion to be recognized is Josh Leadem.  Leadem is an Outfielder in his junior season at the University of Rochester who compete in the NCAA Div 3 Liberty League Conference.  He has 64 At-Bats and is batting .344 with an OPS of 1.063.  Leadem has 2 home runs, 8 doubles, 14 RBI, 20 total walks, an on-base percentage of .500, and a slugging percentage of .563.  

May 5, 2023The fifth former New England Scorpion to be recognized is Caleb Leys.  Leys is a LHP in his sophomore season at the University of Maine who compete in the NCAA Div 1 America East Conference.  He has made 14 appearances this season (47 Innings) and is 3-0 with 49K’s and an opponent batting average of .227.  He also signed a contract to play summer ball for the Newport Gulls out of the NECBL.

May 11, 2023

The sixth former New England Scorpion to be recognized is AJ Guindon.  Guindon is in his junior season at Wheaton College who compete in the NCAA Div 3 NEWMAC Conference.  Guindon has played in 43 games this season and has logged 194 total at-bats.  He is batting .381 with an OBP of.438 while slugging .526.  He has 17 Stilen Bases, 12 Doubles, 5 Triples, 2 Home Runs, & 32 RBI.  He also broke the school record for lost runs scored with 59.

The seventh former New England Scorpion to be recognized is Ben Sears.  Sears is in his second season with the Columbia Fireflies (Single A Affiliate of the KC Royals.  Sears has pitched in 11 games this season (22 IP) and is currently 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA, 17K’s, 1.14 WHIP, and 4 Saves.  Sears was drafted in the 14th round of the 2022 MLB Draft by the KC Royals.

June 9, 2023

The eighth former New England Scorpion to be recognized is Ethan Perry.  Perry is in his junior season at St. John’s Fisher University, who participate in the NCAA Div 3 Empire 8 Conference.  Perry batted .313 with 3 home runs, seven doubles, & 30 RBI.   He also had the walk-off hit in the conference championship game to send St. John‘s Fisher to the NCAA Regionals.  Ethan was selected to the All Tournament Team and was named Empire 8 Conference MVP after batting .636 (7-11) with a home run, double, three runs scored, four RBI, and catching every single inning of the tournament.
